DNA Requirements

• Exhibitors are required to purchase, collect and submit DNA hair samples and tag photo uploads for all market beef, market sheep, market goat, market swine, beef open & bred replacement heifers and dairy replacement heifer entries. Entries of these species that do not include DNA samples and tag photos are disqualified.

• DNA Kits must be purchased online and will be picked up at the Fair main office. Exhibitors will be emailed when their kits are ready for pick up. The Main office is open Monday - Friday from 8 AM - Noon and 1 PM - 5 PM.
• Completed DNA specimens must be dropped off at the Kern County Fair Main Office on or before the due date. Tag photos must be uploaded to ShoWorks by DNA Kit entry deadline.There are drop boxes inside the Main Office Lobby. You will need to drop them off during normal business hours.

• There will be automatic DNA testing on any animal that requires a retagging due to lost or dislodged tags.

COMPLETING AND RETURNING A DNA KIT DOES NOT ENTER YOU INTO THE FAIR. AFTER COMPLETING YOUR DNA KIT YOU MUST ALSO COMPLETE AN ONLINE ENTRY BEFORE THE DEADLINE TO OFFICIALLY BE ENTERED INTO THE FAIR.
