Arrive Early

Be sure to account for the time it might take to park and enter the fairgrounds. Due to heavy traffic around the fairgrounds, it could take 15 to 45 minutes to get onto the grounds. Fair parking is only $10 a day for each of our three parking lots located on South P Street, South Union Avenue, and Belle Terrace.

Take note of where you parked

Because we have a few large lots, take a minute to familiarize yourself with your surroundings when you arrive to avoid confusion when you depart. Take note of which gate you entered the fairgrounds through and which parking lot and row you parked in.

Check the weather report

Although the September weather in Bakersfield is expected to be dry and hot, we have had rain during the run of the Fair in the past. The show will in fact, go on despite any weather changes. Be prepared with sunscreen and visors on sunny days and a rain coat or umbrella in case the skies turn gray. Refunds, credits, or exchanges will not be issued for gate admission or any events that are cancelled due to inclement weather.

Bringing a large group?

We can accommodate you in KC Park or Bolthouse Pavilion! These locations are perfect for family reunions, class reunions, corporate events, and more. For booking information, call 661-833-4900 or email jburton@kerncountyfair.com

Wear comfortable footwear and clothing

There are over 500 venders, countless entertainment acts, and many other activities that span 160 acres at the Kern County Fair. Make sure your boots are made for walking! We also request that all fairgoers dress appropriately not only for a family atmosphere, but with the mind that a potential risk may occur when riding rides or other conveyance on the grounds. Shoes and Shirt are required.

Leave unnecessary items at home

The Kern County Fair does not offer any kind of storage or locker system. The Kern County Fair is also not responsible for any lost or stolen articles in cars or on the person attending the Fair. Lost and Found can be located on the South side of the Main Plaza. Times, locations, emergency assistance, special services and special events information is provided during the fair hours by the AZB Sorority and staff. You can reach Lost and Found at the following number 661-833-4955

Wash your hands

For your health and safety, the Kern County Fair strongly urges you to wash your hands throughout the day, especially after visiting animal areas and barns, carnival area, and prior to eating. This will help stop the spread of potential diseases.

Bring your camera

There will be plenty of memorable moments, so bring your camera and capture the special day forever. Remember to share on the Kern County Fair Facebook page www.facebook.com/kcfair and use the hashtag #KCFair2016. Please note: Professional cameras and recording devices are not permitted at the Budweiser Pavilion concerts. The Kern County Fair would like to also make you aware, that by entering the grounds, you hereby consent to the reproduction and use of your photograph, image, voice or reproduction thereof, either in whole or in part of any and all advertising, promotional and publicity purposes without limitation or reservation.

Come hungry

Ribs, chicken, corn dogs, cotton candy, candy apples, and much more are available throughout the fairgrounds. You can find our Food Finder Map Here where you can search for your favorite fair food. Food Menus are also available on our Kern County Fair App. For more information about our app click here.

Lost?

Once you have made it into the Fair Grounds, establish a meeting place for you and your group. The Nursing and baby changing station is located south of Goode Auditorium. This service is provided by the Kern County Fair; it is a safe environment for found children to meet up with their lost parents.

Get a Hand Stamp

Kern County Fair gate admission tickets are valid for one use and scan only. If you are leaving the fairgrounds and plan to come back later, be sure to get a hand stamp as you are exiting the gate. This will allow you to re-enter the Kern County Fair later on. A hand stamp is only valid for the day it is issued. If a hand stamp is not present, or if it appears to have been tampered with or transferred, payment of gate admission will be required. *There is no parking return, if you leave the parking lot, you must pay to park again.
