A piece of Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch will be coming to the Kern County Fair when it opens Sept. 23.

The Balloon Samba, a ride that previously operated at Neverland, will be part of the kiddie carnival. The ride seats 32 children in six “hot-air balloon” carriages.  Fluffy white cloud cutouts and bright, smiling suns decorate the safety barrier and give riders the illusion of floating up in the sky.

The ride was purchased late last year by Butler Amusements, the operator presenting the carnival at the Kern County Fair.

Butler, the largest carnival operator in the western United States, also is bringing the brand new Wind Surfer to the Kern County Fair. The ride is being described as “the first of its kind” and Butler spokesperson Andrea Owen says the company is the first to own it. The Wind Surfer has eight cars each with a sail and a two-person capacity seat. The wings are controlled by the riders so the seat flies up and down. The center of the Wind Surfer tips and lifts to simulate the swooping action of wind surfing on ocean waves.

Another new attraction is the U-Toob Funhouse, described as a walk-through funhouse with a home-movie twist.  Patrons see clips of various funny home movies while negotiating obstacles.  The two-story funhouse combines unusual sights and sounds with classic funhouse tricks.

If you’re into thrill rides, the new Spin Out is being described as one of the most exciting rides on the midway. Made in England, the Spin Out stands 45 feet high and has six four-passenger seats. The seats are located on the outside edge of the ride. As the Spin Out begins to rise, the seats begin to spin up, down and around. There are only eight Spin Out rides on traveling carnivals in the United States
