The Kern County Fair in the Top 50 Fairs in North America in 2008

The Great Kern County Fair, again, has placed in the Top 50 fairs in North America. The Kern County Fair ranked 50th, dropping one position from 2007. The rankings are based on total fair attendance.

In relation to fairs in California, the Great Kern County Fair ranks 6th among the 78 fairs in California, based on attendance. The top fairs, in order,  are LA County Fair, San Diego County Fair, Orange County Fair, California State Fair and the Big Fresno Fair.

Chief Executive Office, Bill Blair, praised all involved with the 2008 fair. "We did an awesome job considering where the economy was with high fuel prices, foreclosures and the beginnings of a huge economic downturn. 2009 will be an even greater challenge, but we are ready to tackle it."

The 2009 Kern County Fair is themed "Best in the West" and will run September 23- October 4, 2009.

The Great Kern County Fair represents the 15th District Agricultural Association. Each year, the Great Kern County Fair hosts over 400,000 guests over 12 days. This is the largest, single event in the Southern San Joaquin Valley. Members of the Board of Directors includes, Jim Camp President; Nancy Wheeler-Smith, Vice President; Steve Smoot, Past President; Kay Meek, Janice Smith, Cesar Chavez, Les Clark, Karen DeWalt, and Mike Olcott.
